MattressMath is an independent site that helps people work out what a mattress really costs before they buy. We focus on what the price tag leaves out: how many years it lasts, what goes under it, delivery and removal fees, and what a return would cost.
How we get our numbers
Prices on this site are typical ranges for budget and mid-range mattresses sold in the US, rounded to whole dollars, in USD and before tax. Lifespans are estimates based on common construction, foam densities and warranty terms; they are not lab tests of any brand. Where products differ, we use a representative mid-range value in the calculator and show the range in the guides.
Prices change often. Each guide shows when it was last updated, and the calculator lists every assumption so you can replace it with the price you see. Assumptions were last reviewed in 2026-10.
What we don't do
- We don't rank brands by commission. If we add affiliate links, they're marked and explained on the affiliate disclosure page.
- We don't collect personal data: no accounts, no tracking cookies, no analytics scripts. See the privacy policy.
- We don't give medical advice. If you have pain, talk to a clinician; a mattress is not a treatment.
